Teen Dating Violence (TDV)
TDV is a type of intimate partner violence and can occur in one of 4 ways:
- Physical violence
- Sexual violence
- Psychological aggression
- Stalking
Only 33% of teens in a violent relationship tell someone.
Many adolescents only associate abuse with physical violence. We need to educate teens on the many different ways their partner may be trying to exert power and control over them. Additional forms of abuse can be just as damaging as physical violence, and include verbal/emotional, sexual, financial, and digital abuse, and intimidating or controlling behavior.
If you suspect yourself or someone you love is experiencing TDV you can make an appointment with a Family Houston counselor at 713.861.4849.
