Dear Friend,
According to Mental Health America, in 2023, the state of Texas ranked last in the US for access to mental health care. This statistic is not just alarming; it’s a call to action. We, at Family Houston, are answering the bell… working hard to provide quality and accessible mental health care to Houstonians regardless of their ability to pay. Since 1904, Family Houston has been a source of hope and guidance for our beloved city. The need for services is great and growing. We need support now more than ever to meet this growing need. Our intake team receives over 60 calls every day from Houstonians in need. They are our neighbors seeking mental health care, basic needs support, or financial and employment coaching. Our counselors and coaches cater to anyone and everyone in need by giving them access to the care they deserve.
We are there to help our clients in more ways than one
We offer a holistic approach to stability. Consider the example of LeAna, who like many others, has been able to lean on Family Houston during several pivotal moments in her life.
“At Family Houston, I feel truly cared for as a human being
despite my struggles.”
LeAna originally came to us in need of some mental health services. As the mother of two children, she knew she needed support, but the costs for care were prohibitive. Then she found Family Houston. After several months of counseling, LeAna made immense progress with her mental health but struggled with making ends meet for her family. We were able to provide access to a financial coach who now meets with her once a month to teach her how to create and manage a budget and make fiscally responsible decisions that will help set her family up for stability in the long term.
We have been offering hope to thousands of Houstonians for over 120 years. When you make a gift to Family Houston, you are making a commitment to fellow Houstonians who are experiencing challenges. Your support is crucial in helping us continue to offer the assistance that our neighbors need to thrive. We are stronger together than we are apart, and we hope you will join us in our mission of helping others help themselves.
