Family Houston is seeking a dedicated and professional Bilingual Front Desk/Receptionist to join our team. This role is essential to providing quality customer service and comprehensive administrative support. The Bilingual Front Desk/Receptionist will be the first point of contact for clients and visitors, responsible for managing front desk operations, maintaining an organized and welcoming environment, and ensuring a positive experience for all who interact with our organization.

Essential Job Functions

  • Provide a warm, professional, and friendly welcome to all clients and visitors.
  • Answer and manage incoming phone calls, including returning calls from the main line voicemail.
  • Assist clients with questions and provide information about program services and community resources.

Front Desk Maintenance 

  • Maintain the front desk area, ensuring it is clean, organized, and stocked with necessary supplies and materials.
  • Monitor and manage front desk supplies, including making sure they are replenished as needed.
  • Ensure that informational materials and brochures are up-to-date and available for clients.

Administrative Support

  • Maintain accurate records of client interactions and ensure that all documentation is handled confidentially.
  • Read and retain agency materials to stay informed about program services, agency policies, and community resources.
  • Take payments from clients and handle related transactions accurately.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Client Services

  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of all program services offered by the organization.
  • Handle sensitive client information with professionalism and discretion.

Interdepartmental Collaboration

  • Work effectively with all departments to ensure smooth client service delivery.
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues to coordinate client needs and services.
  • Participate in interdepartmental meetings as needed to ensure consistent service delivery.

Professionalism and Confidentiality

  • Adhere to agency policies and procedures, always maintaining a high standard of professionalism.
  • Maintain client confidentiality in accordance with agency expectations and requirements.
  • Be resourceful and proactive in addressing issues that arise, ensuring a calm and compassionate approach under pressure.

Experience, Education, and Knowledge

  • Previous experience in a front desk, receptionist, or customer service role is required.
  • Experience working in a non-profit or social services environment is a plus.
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is required.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and documentation abilities.
  • Ability to multi-task and adapt in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other relevant software.
  • Ability to work effectively with a diverse client base and team members.
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required; some college coursework in a related field is preferred.

Work Hours and Location

  • This role operates in an office from Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM.
  • This position will be based at our central office in Houston, Texas. Regular attendance is critical for client contact and coverage. Hours and location are subject to change based on the agency’s needs.

Compensation

This is an hourly, non-exempt position with a range of $19 – $22/hour commensurate with relevant skills and experience.  Benefits include full medical, dental, and vision benefits, paid time off, short-term and long-term disability and 403b retirement plan.
