Family Houston is seeking a motivated and skilled Bilingual Financial Stability Coach to join our team. In this role, you will work directly with participants in the community, providing personalized coaching and education to help them achieve lasting financial and employment stability. You will guide participants through goal setting, budgeting, credit improvement, debt management, asset building, career planning, job search, and accessing vocational training. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in both financial and employment coaching, with experience in developing individualized client plans, conducting client outreach efforts in the community, and a commitment to serving diverse communities, including individuals with disabilities. This role also requires a non-judgmental approach to service delivery, ensuring that all participants are treated with respect and dignity.

Essential Job Functions

  • Offer one-on-one financial and employment coaching to participants, assisting with setting and achieving financial goals, creating budgets, improving credit scores, managing debt, saving, building assets, job searching, and accessing vocational training.
  • Track and support participants’ progress toward their goals and objectives, providing encouragement and guidance.
  • Follow up on referrals to financial and employment professionals when necessary.
  • Conduct client outreach efforts within the community to engage potential participants.
  • Keep detailed and accurate records of participant interactions, including intake forms, credit reports, coaching notes, and action plans.
  • Provide non-judgmental services to all participants, ensuring a respectful and supportive coaching environment.
  • Design and lead financial and employment education classes and workshops tailored to participant needs.
  • Monitor and support participant engagement in activities.
  • Collect and validate all necessary participant data throughout the program, including assessments and profiles.
  • Monitor and evaluate participant progress, ensuring that program outcomes and metrics are met.
  • Identify additional resources and services to support participants in reaching their goals.
  • Build and maintain relationships with community partners to enhance program offerings.
  • Work closely with other departments within the organization to provide comprehensive support to participants.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across various programs to ensure participants receive well-rounded services that address their diverse needs.
  • Participate in regular interdepartmental meetings to coordinate efforts and share best practices.
  • Provide cross-support to other programs within the organization, including participating in cross-training as needed.
  • Assist with special projects, tasks, and other duties as assigned that contribute to the success of the program.
  • Ensure all participant information is handled confidentially.
  • Adhere to all regulatory and quality standards to maintain program integrity.
  • Travel as required for training sessions, community outreach, and occasional meetings.
  • Maintain a flexible work schedule to meet program and participant needs.

  • Maintain client confidentiality in accordance with agency expectations and requirements.

Experience, Education, and Knowledge

  • Demonstrated experience as a job coach with a focus on financial stability and employment planning.
  • Experience in creating and managing individualized employment plans.
  • Proficiency in guiding participants through job search processes and accessing vocational training opportunities.
  • Experience working with diverse groups, including individuals with disabilities, is a plus.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and strong data management skills.
  • Strong understanding of personal finance principles, including budgeting, credit, savings, and debt management.
  • Ability to create tailored financial plans for participants.
  • Experience in guiding individuals through complex financial decisions and problem-solving.
  • Competence in using financial tools and software to analyze and improve participants’ financial situations.
  • Knowledge of financial services and resources available within the community.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to inspire and motivate participants.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
  • Commitment to diversity and inclusive practices.
  • Ability to follow regulations and standards, ensuring program compliance and participant privacy.
  • Fluent in English and Spanish required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in social work, finance, or a related field preferred.
  • Relevant certifications or equivalent work experience in financial coaching or a similar role will also be considered.

Work Hours and Location
This role operates on a hybrid schedule, with in-office hours from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.  This role is based at our central office in Houston. The position may require occasional evening or weekend hours, depending on the needs of the organization. 

Compensation

This is a salary, exempt position with a range of $52,000 – $55,000/annually commensurate with relevant skills and experience.  Benefits include full medical, dental, and vision benefits, paid time off, short-term and long-term disability and 403b retirement plan.
