Family Houston Expands Case Management Services for Veterans Impacted by COVID-19 With Support From the Bob Woodruff Foundation (BWF)
Family Houston announced it has received vital support from the BWF in partnership with the Qatar Harvey Fund to expand its emergency Case Management services to veterans by addressing veterans financial needs. This is particularly critical as many veterans are experiencing increased hardship due to COVID-19.
The BWF awarded a total of $1.9 million to 13 organizations with programs that serve veterans, service members, and their families through a range of approaches to ensure overall veteran health and wellness. Several programs including Family Houston’s provide emergency case management, financial coaching and direct financial assistance to these veterans in need.
Tracey Burnett-Greenup, Senior Director of Case Management and Financial Stability says “We have seen an increase of veterans who need assistance with rent, mortgage, and utilities due to job loss, reduced hours, and illness. Since COVID-19 began, Family Houston has provided over 150 Case Management sessions to veterans, and with this grant we will be able to reach even more veterans in need.”
“Many of our veterans and their families now serve as frontline workers and first responders, answering the call again here at home,” said Dave Woodruff, co-founder and co-chairman of the Bob Woodruff Foundation Board of Directors. “We will stand with them, supporting the programs that help them face their service-related challenges and those related to the COVID outbreak – now and into the future.”
