HOUSTON, TXFamily Houston, celebrating 121 years of dedicated service to the community, proudly announces the debut of the Laughing Matters Gala on Saturday, May 3, 2025, at The Revaire. As May is Mental Health Awareness Month, this special evening will raise awareness and funds to support mental health access, financial stability, and essential resources for underserved individuals and families in Houston.

This one-of-a-kind comedy night gala will feature nationally renowned comedian and author Gary Gulman. Gulman, who has captivated audiences nationwide through sold-out performances and multiple comedy specials on HBO, Netflix, Max, and Comedy Central, uses his platform to share his journey with mental health challenges, offering humor, inspiration, and hope.

Houston philanthropists, Kim & David Pitts will serve as the event’s esteemed Chairs, helping to bring the community together for a night of celebration, fundraising, and laughter. The evening will also honor the Joseph and Cathy Garcia-Prats Family, previously featured on the Oprah show, and Anew Climate for their outstanding community contributions. The Joseph and Cathy Garcia-Prats Family will receive the Community Service Award in recognition of their exceptional commitment to uplifting and supporting others in Houston. Anew Climate will be presented with the Corporate Award for their dedication to social impact and environmental responsibility.

Proceeds from the Laughing Matters Gala will directly support Family Houston’s programs, which provide comprehensive mental health services, financial coaching, basic needs assistance, and resources for veterans and the underserved. Each year, Family Houston serves over 3,000 individuals and families, helping them build stronger, more stable futures.

“We are very excited to present the Laughing Matters Gala as a way to bring the community together and support such an important cause,” said Ken Sheirr, CEO of Family Houston. “Through laughter and fundraising, we can help break the stigma surrounding mental health and provide critical support for those in need.”
